Billy Currington’s latest single “Do I Make You Wanna?” is making a statement in country music this week. It just reached number one, which gives Currington his 12th career number one hit. Country radio played the song more than any other last week, causing it to reach number one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart as well.
Per Headline Plant, the song played nearly 9,000 times last week and had 58.7 million audience impressions. Since its release 36 weeks ago, it’s been steadily rising on charts of all types. Ashley Gorley, Zach Crowell, Matt Jenkins and Jerry Flowers wrote the song, according to Country Music Tattle Tale, who also reports Currington’s excitement for his latest #1.
“This album, ‘Summer Forever,’ is the album that keeps on giving,” he said. “Having the song ‘Do I make you Wanna’ become my 12th No. 1 hit is beyond gratifying and so rewarding. I want to thank my team, my label, my co-writers, country radio and most of all you, my fans! This could have never happened without the fans, so a deep felt thank you to all of you.”
Currington is always one to thank his fans for his success. He has a great appreciation for the people who got him where he is today. This personality trait makes him easy to like, which might help to make him even more successful in the long run.

“Do I Make You Wanna?” is a great addition to Currington’s growing music resume. It fits in with his style of music very well and is as likable and catchy as the rest of his music. Currington tends to create music that is upbeat and fun. He makes music that’s easy to sing along with, and his smooth voice is perfect for that type of music.
Many of his songs are in this style of country music. Another song on the same album is “It Don’t Hurt Like It Used To.” It’s also a rather upbeat song about love and loss. In this song, Currington sings about moving past a lost love. In “Do I Make You Wanna?” the lyrics focus on building a relationship and learning what makes each other happy.
However, both songs, as well as the Currington’s others, contain his signature sound and style. Currington also knows how to have a little fun along the way. He’s responsible for songs like “People Are Crazy,” “Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer” and “That’s How Country Boys Roll.” These songs all focus on the amusing side of country music and allow Currington to switch things up from his more serious tunes.
Regardless of the types of songs Currington sings, he has an excellent following and great potential for the future. We expect to see many more great hits out of him. If you want to catch the singer live, he’s currently touring through the middle of October on his “Stay Up ‘Til The Sun” tour. You can check out the full dates for that tour on his website.
