The movie starred late Ashok Kumar, late Sanjeev Kumar, Rakesh Roshan, Rekha, Farida Jalal, late Sujit Kumar, Asrani, late Keshto Mukherjee, late Rajesh Khanna, Ravindra Kapoor, etc.
Lt. Sunil Mehra (Rakesh Roshan) meets Sheetal (Rekha) on a flight from Delhi to Srinagar. Due to bad weather, their flight lands in Jammu and they have to travel together to Srinagar in a cab. During the trip, he falls in love with her. All through the compulsive dating from his side, Sheetal tries to tell him something. But, he is not ready to listen. It turns out that Sheetal is engaged to Major Ajay Verma (Sanjeev Kumar) and she’s been trying to tell Sunil about it. When Sunil gets to know about it, he gets depressed.
It turns out that Sunil Belongs to Major Ajay’s Rajput Regiment. Sunil cannot handle the supposed infidelity of Sheetal and takes to alcohol in earnest. Sheetal cannot bear it and they decide to get married in a temple the next day. While commuting to the temple the next day, the cab, in which Sheetal is traveling gets involved with an accident and Sunil thinks she decided against marrying him when she does not reach the temple. Simultaneously, Pakistan invades India and Major Ajay’s regiment is ordered to go to the front. At this time, an injured 1965 war veteran (Rajesh Khanna) sings this song to motivate the soldiers.

The video opens with a group of soldiers marching toward the camera and 2 of them blowing the bugle. The soldiers get into the parked army trucks. Rajesh Khanna begins the song. Sanjeev Kumar climbs up a jeep, with determination on his face. Sujit Kumar, Rakesh Roshan and Ravindra Kapoor also climb onto a jeep each.
Rajesh Khanna drops one of his crutches, unintentionally and 3 children run to him. One of the children picks it up and gives it to Rajesh Khanna. A couple of children hand over their tiffin box and water bottle to Sanjeev Kumar. Sanjeev Kumar and Rajesh Khanna salute each other. Several women garland the soldiers and tie rachis to them.
A blind young man wants to join the army so that he can reduce one enemy bullet. Rajesh Khanna gives his army knife to Rakesh Roshan. The song peters out and the video ends as an Indian soldier watches from his bunker for any enemy activity.
