The movie begins with Raj Sharma (Ranbir Kapoor), a young playboy traveling with his friends to Switzerland. He had just completed his twelfth standard exams. He meets Mahi (Minissha Lamba), who is with her family and friends, on the train. Mahi is in love with love and thinks she will find her filmi hero in the new country. She is left behind in one of the stations and Raj jumps out of the train to be with her. He takes her to the airport with him.
When they reach Zurich airport and he tells his friends that he had trapped Mahi into having sex with him. Mahi hears that and is shocked and heartbroken. Raj realizes that she has heard everything he told his friends. He just leaves the airport, shamelessly.
Soon, Raj acquires a job as a game designer with Microsoft, in Mumbai and he finds Radhika (Bipasha Basu) to have a live-in relationship with her. Radhika is an aspiring model. Raj gets an offer to go to Sydney for the launch of one of the games he designed and stay there. He thinks that Radhika is a modern girl and he would be able to easily move on after leaving her. Radhika, on the other hand, declares that she would be happy to sacrifice her career as a model to marry him and join him in Sydney. Raj is not ready for a commitment and flees on the day he is going to marry Radhika. Radhika waits till nightfall at the registrar’s office and is dejected.
Soon, Raj has a successful career in Sydney. One day, he meets Gayatri (Deepika Padukone). Gayatri is a gutsy, independent woman, who drives a cab by night and is a B-school student by day. Raj becomes friendly with her and also learns that she does not believe in the institution of marriage like him. They begin to date and he realizes that he had begun to feel something for her and these feelings challenge his commitment-phobia.
She rejects his proposal when he proposes to her. He realizes how Mahi and Radhika had felt when he had rejected them. He decides to seek them out to apologize to them. First, he visits Amritsar where Mahi lives. He is told that she had got married to Joginder Ahluwalia and they have 2 sons. At her home, he finds Joginder, who beats him up when he realizes that he is the same Raj, who had made Mahi a non-believer in love and unresponsive to her husband’s feelings.
Raj meets Mahi at her sister’s wedding and tells her despite her resistance in talking to him that Joginder is the Raj of her dreams. Mission accomplished, he leaves the wedding venue during the Sangeet ceremony itself and leaves for Mumbai where Radhika, a small-town girl, has become a successful model. During the flight, he thinks that she is singing this song for him.
Song: The lyrics of this song were penned by Anvita Dutt Guptan and the music was composed by Vishal-Shekhar.
The girl says that he is her lucky boy. The man is lucky to have her as his girlfriend.
Video: Cinematography is by Sunil Patel. The dance choreography is by Ahmad Khan.
The video opens with Ranbir Kapoor looking at the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine with Bipasha Basu’s picture. The next shot shows some girls wearing shorts and standing in different positions and poses. The song begins in the background. Bipasha Basu is standing with her back to the camera and turns around.
Bipasha Basu begins to sing the song and dance to its tune. She is wearing a short dress. As she dances, the choreography and camera angles are such that there are glimpses of her underwear!
In such situations, nobody will look at the choreography but only peek at the lower portion of the girl’s torso. What is the point in choreographing such songs? They can ask the actor to keep shaking her hip and let the camera be placed at strategic angles.
There are several changes of dresses. The song peters out and the video ends as the camera takes a shot of Bipasha’s eyes.
Artists: The playback of this song has been sung by Hard Kaur, Raja Hasan and Sunidhi Chauhan and the onscreen performances are by Bipasha Basu, Ranbir Kapoor and others.
Cultural Influence: This typically filmi song says that the girl considers the hero her lucky boy. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
