She added, “This raga belongs to Thaat Khamaj. Aaroh of the raga is Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Ni, Sa. And avroh is Sa, Ni (komal), Dha, Pa, Ma, Ga, Re, Ga (komal), Re, Sa. The pakad of this raga is Re, Ga (komal), Re, Sa, Ni, Sa, Dha, Ni, Re. Its season of recital is summer. Time of singing this raga is between 6 and 9 PM. This raga is not mentioned in any ancient Indian classical scriptures on music. The mood of the raga is very sweet but to sing it is quite difficult.”

  1. As I was eagerly waiting for the next one, it is needless to say that I’m very excited as my wait is over. Brinda RoyChoudhury has again come up with wonderful insights about the Raga Jayjayanti which was enriching as ever. This segment is enriching me with much appreciated knowledge of Indian classical music for which I’m really grateful.
And with that I also wait for Brinda’s melodious voice which is becoming more and more richer with each passing day.
